The secrecy and the stiff arm "keep you at a distance" approach is rampant in the larger agencies with their clients. It truly baffled me because there are millions behind these relationships and they still didn't have that "one-team" culture within the project teams. Its very high on the list on why I left the big ad agency. I am sure that all agencies are not like that, but I do think the fatter the company the more you see this. We need a Biggest Loser for ad agencies. Great post!!

Heya, well I like the layout of tastyblogsnack so what I was thinking is not having 3 columns that another user posted. Keep the Flat more spread out layout, but have 3 tabs on the top of the page (like a site created in iWeb). Then whenever a tab is chosen keep the same page layout but refresh the content. As for implementing the Twitter/Facebook connect that is a great idea, although the community idea I believe should been connected to your ning site. I'm not too sure on the customizable options of ning, but re-design that UI and use that as the faceplate but the URL should be a hang on to your actual blog. (eg) ijustine.com/community. So you're redirecting the page to another server...
Use a fine, thin font like Justine used for a YouTube banner earlier this year.
Anyway.. They're just a few idea's that I'm sure you've already thought of!
I'm exited for ijustine.com :)

Honestly, it was awesome.

I totally would love to show up in person, I think this is the kind of event that designers in Arizona need. An open forum to discuss topics, both in person and on-line.
The only thing that bugged me was how crazy it got via online/live, it almost turned into several conversations at once, but overall, highly successful.

You are right. I guess I was trying to make the point that 1. we need to always be educating our clients in how we operate, our processes, our ideals and what-not. 2. Don't be a robot and just always do what the client asks because without proper thought and discussion, tragedy could occur and not just for them. 3. Always think about relevancy in your work no matter what size the job is. Not just for the audience but also for your client and their abilities to continue along the path you have started them down and also for you. Design projects can and should be a win for everyone involved and that us achieved through communication and proper research with a strive and focus on relevance.

If that all makes sense :)

Nice video.
I find that a lot of the time, clients who say "think outside of the box" often means "i don't really know what i want".
They don't want it to be just another website, or just another design, but they don't know what they want, so they use that phrase.
As far as design goes, they might not actually want "outside the box".
I mean, "outside the box" for a designer is almost definitely very different from "outside the box" in the client's mind.
They generally (my experience) just want something good, something different, but still something similar to what they know.

Make sense?
Or am i just getting different kinds of clients?
